I rarely read or pick up anything within the horror genre due to many reasons. One, I find very few horror stories compelling. Two, very few interesting characters. Though this is also a psychological thriller, which adds a certain quality to it. Still, I see this as a horror first and thriller second, so I'll be mostly commenting on it as a horror. As I'm more of a character driven reader, a lot of how I feel about a particular story lies heavily on the book's ability to make intriguing characters and I find that uninteresting and unbearable characters to be a factor of most books in this genre, which leads to me dropping them quickly.

However, Let's Play A Game manages to deliver in this aspect without sacrificing the plot nor the bone-chilling tone that is a must for any great horror book. Much of which comes from the author's ability to make relatable and complex characters. Even the antagonist is scarily relatable, and probably the most relatable in my honest opinion. Each one stands out in their own way and make a memorable impression. None of them are the stereotypes often used in the horror genre. This makes it much easier for me to be invested in the story and care about what's happening and what's going to happen to each of the characters.

The plot itself is great, mixed with picturesque descriptions and scintillating syntax/diction. This book really stimulates the senses giving a spine tingling feeling. This story just keeps you wanting more and more. The pacing is not too fast nor too slow, making it for a smooth read. Which I hope to see more soon, noting that fact that this is titled as Demon's Game Book 1. A really good book and one that I recommend to anyone looking for a good book, or even just need a quick story to read. I'm looking forward to whatever sequel this author puts out next.
